Minutes of the Polk County Board of Review

Friday, May 1st 2020

On Friday, May 1st 2020, the members of the Polk County Board of Review met for the purpose of organizing the local Board of Review for 2020 as provided in Iowa Code Section 441.33.

Due to the State Public Health Emergency Declaration regarding COVID-19 and the Proclamation of Governor Kim Reynolds dated April 27, 2020, this meeting was conducted electronically pursuant to Iowa Code 21.8.

2019 Chairperson L. Max Wright opened the meeting on this day at 9:00 a.m. Those members present were Roger Bak, Lora Jorgensen, Donna Koester, Amy Larson, John Mauro, Ruth O'Brien-German, Everett Sather, Leslie Turner, Jane Viggers and L. Max Wright.

It was moved by L. Max Wright and seconded by Amy Larson to waive the reading of the minutes. Motion carried unanimously.

It was moved by Everett Sather and seconded by Ruth O'Brien-German that Jane Viggers be named Chairperson for this session of the Board. The election of the Chairperson being in order, the members proceeded to vote and Jane Viggers was elected unanimously, and thereupon presided as such.

It was then moved by John Mauro and seconded by Ruth O'Brien-German that Amy Larson be named Vice Chairperson of the Board for this session, and the Board members present unanimously cast their vote for such appointment, and Amy Larson thereupon assumed the duties of Vice Chairperson of the Board.

It was moved by Ruth O'Brien-German and seconded by Leslie Turner that Lora Jorgensen serve as clerk. Motion carried unanimously.

It was moved by Roger Bak and seconded by Amy Larson to authorize the Assessor to requisition the salaries of the Board members set at $11,434.80 each. Motion carried unanimously.

It was moved by Everett Sather and seconded by Lora Jorgensen to adopt the Rules of Procedure. Motion carried, all members voting "yes" .

It was moved by L. Max Wright and seconded by Amy Larson to approve the Designation of Authority to Agents and Attorneys representing the Board of Review. Motion carried unanimously.
